Senior Music Students Visit SAE Creative Media Institute
Earlier this term, our Senior Music students had the opportunity to visit SAE Creative Media Institute in West End for an unforgettable experience inside their world-class recording and production studios. The excursion offered students an inspiring glimpse into the professional music and audio industry, as they toured cutting-edge facilities and engaged with experts in sound engineering, music production, and film foley.
Throughout the day, students explored how sound is captured, mixed, and manipulated across different media, and gained valuable insight into the creative and technical processes that shape the music and film industries. From seeing the technology in action to hearing stories from industry professionals, the visit sparked curiosity and enthusiasm among our budding musicians and producers.
It was a beautiful day of hands-on learning, connection, and inspiration—and we’re excited to share that the partnership with SAE will continue. Next term, our students will return to record their own original compositions in the studio, bringing their classroom learning into a real-world, industry setting.
We are incredibly grateful for this brilliant industry connection and the chance to offer our students such authentic, future-focused experiences in music.
Year 7 & 8 Students Inspired by Musica Viva Performance
Our Year 7 and 8 Music students were recently treated to a vibrant live performance from Musica Viva titled Music of the World. This captivating concert featured a dynamic three-piece ensemble who took students on a musical journey through Celtic melodies and global soundscapes.
The performance was both engaging and educational, sparking curiosity and excitement among students. They were inspired by the energy and versatility of the musicians, and the unique instruments and styles showcased throughout the session.
Following the concert, students have been enthusiastically learning to play the traditional Italian dance, the Tarantella, in class—bringing the experience full circle from listening to performing.
It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with professional musicians and experience the joy of live music. A big thank you to Musica Viva for bringing such rich and diverse musical traditions into our classrooms.
