BSHS Community Notice
BSHS Culture Group
Our Cultural Group came alive during both the Senior and Junior assemblies on Monday showcasing the vibrant traditions of Pacific Island cultures through song, dance, and storytelling.
Students from all different Pacific backgrounds came together to unite and show pride in their heritage, and with more performances to come throughout the year, this first performance definitely set the tone.
The Siva Samoa performed by the girls tells stories through graceful movements, energetic beats, and the vibrant colours of the ie lavalavas (Samoan name for cloth people wear wrapped around themselves). More than just a performance, this was a statement, a reminder of the deep cultural roots that connects students to their ancestors and traditions.
Throughout the year, the group will continue to share and strengthen their culture through workshops, events, and community engagements, ensuring that the spirit of the Pacific continues to thrive within the school.
