Readers Cup
One of the ways State High promotes a “reading culture” is by holding an annual school Readers’ Cup competition.
The afternoon of 1 April saw over 80 students from Years 7 and 8 join in the fun. Teams of 3 or 4 students read four books throughout Term 1. On competition day, 10 questions were asked on each book and the excited winners were Hannelore Monks, Isabela Pintilie, Shivani Sundaram and Josie Newman. They won book vouchers from our local book shop, “Where the Wild Things Are” and will go on to represent State High at the Regional competition run by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) at the end of Term 2.
The Runners’ Up at our school competition will represent us in Term 4 at a District competition held for Year 7s. These talented boys included Percy McDonald, Sherwin Mooten and Lucas Chang.
Thanks to the English and Library staff as well as the Year 9 leaders who helped make sure everything ran smoothly.
